Discussion on Latvia’s architecture exports potential

On 23 April, 2013 the Latvian Association of Architects and Department of Architecture in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia arranged the conference Export Potential of Latvian Architecture: Challenges and Opportunities with the worldwide recognised and local experts involved therein: urbanist, innovation and creative cities expert Charles Landry (UK), Vice-president of the British Royal Institute of Architects (RIBA) Peter Oborn (UK), Ministerial Advisor of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Finland Kimmo Aulake (FI), Chairman of the Latvian Association of Architects Andris Kronbergs (LV), Head of the Architecture export sector of the Latvian Association of Architects Visvaldis Sarma (LV), Head of the Construction policy department at Ministry of Economics Renars Spade (LV) and others. Event moderated by Oskars Redbergs.

Different aspects of architecture exportability were included in the agenda – contribution of architecture to the economy, potential and competitiveness of architecture industry at international level, barriers and disadvantages of the export process, national support possibilities and needs of the industry, as well as other issues.

The event was held in Architecture and Media Centre H2O 6, Ūdens street 6, Riga and organized within the framework of Creativity week 2013.
