Arnis Balčus

Arnis Balčus is a photographer whose works talk about the identity, culture and history of Latvia. He studied communication sciences at the University of Latvia and the theory of photography at Westminster University in London. Arnis’ works have been exhibited at various museum and galleries across Latvia and Europe, for example, at Matthew Brown’s gallery in London (2005), Giedre Bartelt’s gallery in Berlin (2003, 2007), MUMOK in Vienna (2009), the Latvian National Museum of Art (2004, 2012), as well as published in Dazed & Confused, The New Yorker, Achtung Mode, Time Out, etc. Since 2011, Arnis has also been the chief editor of Foto Kvartāls photography magazine.

Arnis Balčus ir fotogrāfs, kurš savos darbos runā par Latvijas identitāti, kultūru un vēsturi. Viņš ir studējis komunikāciju Latvijas Universitātē un fotogrāfijas teoriju Vestminsteres universitātē Londonā. Balčus darbi ir izstādīti dažādos Latvijas un Eiropas muzejos un galerijās, piemēram, Matthew Bown galerijā Londonā (2005), Giedre Bartelt galerijā Berlīnē (2003, 2007), MUMOK Vīnē (2009), Latvijas Nacionālajā mākslas muzejā (2004, 2012) u.c., kā arī publicēti tādos izdevumos, kā Dazed & Confused, The New Yorker, Achtung Mode, Time Out u.c. Kopš 2011. gada Balčus ir arī fotožurnāla Foto Kvartāls galvenais redaktors.
